Thank you to Michelle Green for suggesting just regular dirt for the mud look I was going for in the dock ward near the harbor. This is a shot of the dirt after it dried and then had a spray of semi-gloss on the far side and satin gloss on the near side. It makes a nice wet look for mud.

When I threw the test houses on it, the foundations really popped out.

I also sanded down the upper edge of the MDF piece I am working on. This part of the harbor will have a beach running up to the edge of the piece along it's whole length so it will be integrated with the table much more closely than now.
