Thousands of building and statues and trees oh my!!! Going to need a system that does not tip me further over the edge... LOL! Here is the plan.
Step 1. Assign each building a number or pin.
Step 2. Create a specification sheet for the building including (number of floors, exterior cladding material, type of building, slope and direction of grade, Doors, windows and other openings and their facings, roof type, dimensions, any special items).
Step 3. Design the building and create an STL file.
Step 4. Print the building.
Step 5. Clean, sand and paint building.
Step 6. Place building on site.
Going to create the specification sheet on a 4x6" note card and staple a baggie to the card to hold the building. Then I can throw them in a tray without worrying about what is going where and I always know what I am looking at.
The board is going to be subdivided into 'Neighborhoods' which are the sections that will be removable. The first one is shown above. In this particular neighborhood there are 112 regular buildings and 12-13 specialty buidings depending upon how you count it. There are also 2 guard shacks and possibly other small items that will need to be added that are not on the map.
For this to be completed within a relatively sane amount of time (about a year?), I hope to group the houses in batches of approximately 100 - 150 and to be able to get at least 20 houses per day installed on the map. The beginning will be much slower but once I get the hang of it and have enough models built it should go pretty quickly.
I am using multiple maps to re-create the missing parts of the blown up map.
