Ok, so the buildings are not going to be vertical. They are going to tilt with the elevation of the ground. It is just going to be too difficult to try to level them from every angle to every grade that I will create. I am going to keep the elevations the same as planned and if there is a particularly tall building out of place maybe I will adjust it individually. On to the cliffs. There are SOOOOOOOO many cliffs in this diorama. The biggest issue with all these cliffs is that I have to make them somehow dramatic yet between 1/4" and 2" high. They extend the length of the east side of the map, then I need another 2 rows around the I was terribly impressed with my solution to the issue and my new brilliant idea when I came across the same thing on the internet. Oh well, I cant patent it. The technique is called wet casting. You take a piece of rock mold and push or secure it to the diorama behind some plaster to transfer the texture. In front of my house today, I am making test molds (hopefully production molds) of parts of the anti-collision boulders so nicely provided for my use. I have not tried this method before and it involves spreading latex on the rocks over a period of about a week in consecutive layers finally with cheesecloth for structure. Stay tuned for results. On the table I am laying out the remainder of the harbor. I need to make sure all the differences on the map are accounted for and finalize the entire shoreline. The map with the exception of Waterdeep island is free floating right now, need to pin it down permanently.
